About Brook Hollow Baptist Church:

Brook Hollow is a multi-generational family of disciples that seeks to intentionally share thetruth, hope, and love of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee and beyond. Our mission is to glorify God by knowing God through a personal relationship with Christ, growing in our faith, and loving God and others. Founded in 1954, our church campus is located in the West Meade/Hillwood neighborhood of Nashville. In 2023, our resident church membership was 324.

Job Summary:

The Next Generation Minister of Brook Hollow Baptist Church is responsible for developing, leading, and implementing all aspects of the ministry to youth, college students, and young adults with the goal of helping the next generation to know God through a personal relationship with Christ, to grow in their faith, and to love God and others.

Primary Responsibilities:

Youth Ministry (middle school and high school)

1. Teach and lead youth Bible study on Sunday mornings and youth group on Wednesday nights.

2. Plan and coordinate discipleship opportunities for youth such as summer camp, conferences, or retreats.

3. Plan and lead opportunities for youth and their families to live out their faith through service in the church and through missions in our community and beyond.

4. Plan and lead events/activities for youth to build Christian fellowship and to reach out to youth who are unchurched.

5. Provide spiritual guidance and counseling for youth and their parents/guardians, as needed.

6. Develop positive relationships with parents/guardians of youth. Meet and communicate regularly with them to encourage their partnership and involvement.

7. Work in cooperation with the pastor to equip and train parents/guardians to disciple their youth and build families who love God.

College Student and Young Adult Ministry

1. Meet with and listen to the college students and young adults in our church to develop a ministry plan for engaging them in discipleship, fellowship, service, and missions.

2. Implement the college student and young adult ministry plan in conjunction with the pastor, children’s minister, and other church leaders.

3. Provide spiritual guidance and counseling for college students and their parents/guardians and for young adults.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Share the Gospel with youth, college students, and young adults. Encourage baptism and church membership.

2. Pray regularly with and for Next Generation Ministry participants, their parents, and leaders.

3. Engage in outreach efforts within the community, local schools, and universities to be a missional presence and build relationships.

4. Enlist, train, and equip adults to serve in Next Generation Ministry programs and activities.

5. Promote Next Generation Ministry events and opportunities through church social media, website, bulletins, newsletters, mail-outs, and/or announcements in worship.

6. Work with the pastor and other church leaders to create policies and procedures that provide safe environments for our youth, college students, and young adults to learn and grow.

7. Attend Sunday morning worship. Assist pastor by reading scripture and sharing announcements.

8. Meet and greet church members, visitors, and guests before and after Sunday worship. Follow up with visitors and guests.

9. Participate in church-wide events and lend assistance and support as needed.

10. Attend and contribute to church council meetings.

11. Attend and give a report at quarterly church-wide meetings.

12. Communicate regularly with pastor about Next Generation Ministry plans, opportunities, and needs.

13. Carry out additional duties as needed in the life of the church as determined by the pastor.

8. Personable, a gift for creating community, a good listener.

9. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

10. A team player who seeks to integrate the Next Generation Ministry into all aspects of church life to create a culture at Brook Hollow that is intentionally multi-generational.

Qualifications:

1. A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing relationship with Him.

2. A clear call to vocational Christian ministry.

3. A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Christian ministry or related field. A master’s degree from a seminary/divinity school is also preferred.

4. Previous experience in youth, student, or young adult ministry is preferred.

5. Pass a criminal background check.

6. Must become a member of Brook Hollow Baptist Church.
